Letter from Patrick J. Smyth to Abraham Stritch Fuller at Woodfield, Clara, County Offaly, on 15 April 1848, concerning the arrest of William Smith O'Brien, Thomas F. Meagher and John Mitchel for sedition. Informs Fuller that his subscription to the cause will be published in 'The Nation' and the 'United Irishman', and is glad to here that the neighbourhood of Clara is prepared for [rebellion]. Also includes a newspaper clipping concerning a minor "Accident to the Reverend Abraham Fuller".

Memoir by Aloysius O'Brennan recounting the Tullamore Incident of 20 March1916 and the subsequent charges brought against 12 men in relation to the incident.

Minute book recording meetings held and decisions taken by the committee of Tullamore GAA Club. Notable for references to the Irish Volunteers and the nationalist movement. While not mentioning the Tullamore Incident of 20 March 1916 directly, there was a proposal, later dropped, to hold a tournament to raise funds for the prisoners involved in the Incident (4 April 2016). This minute book also records the decision, passed unanimously, that the tri-colour jersey be worn by Tullamore club players in both hurling and football (31 May 1917).

List of the names of men of No. 1 Offaly Brigade Battalion Company 1916-1923. Annotated 'Copy reference'. Also includes mss copy of letter 'with compliments from Commdt. Barty Byrne IRB Control'. Letter is from Joe Byrne, Adj. 3rd Batt. to siblings on 26 January 1923, shortly before his execution. 'Let none be injured for my death, it is not my wishes.'

Inquest reports handwritten by James Dillon, King's County Coroner into a leather-bound notebook. Inquests begin at No. 589, 21 February 1846 and end at No. 1079, 12 December 1854. Format of inquest reports is largely identical beginning with a record of the inquest number, date, location of inquest and the name of the deceased. Then follows a list of the jurors present and witnesses called. The reports end with a verdict on the cause of death. Notable due to its date span which covers the famine era.

Also includes copy outgoing correspondence relating to assisted emigration schemes for inmates of the Parsonstown workhouse during the course of the Great Famine.

Matters referred to include the securing of salmon and gun licences for Lord Digby; letter from the Department of Lands and Fisheries requesting the total amount of Salmon and sea-trout captured by anglers on waters owned or leased by Lord Digby; payment of fishery rates; invoices from Geo N Walshes, Motor Engineer; AGM notice for the Salmon Fisheries Protection Association; the retirement of James Boland in November 1946 and arrangements for the re-letting of Bunowa Lodge.

Includes letter to Lord Digby: "Many thanks for the Ration Card, also Petrol Coupons, and I shall try to have the equivalent for them for you when you come again. It is impossible to say what the possibilities of second-hand cars here will be until we see what happens to the Petrol Ration. So far there has been no announcement and the October, November and December Coupons have already been issued. I will bear in mind what you say, and also have the question of your membership of the Irish Automobile Association... I was very interested and amazed to read your story about the whale, and so was Kenneth, and I think you were extremely lucky to live to tell the tale, and that the boat was not turned over. I agree that it is a great fishing story, and that even though it is literally true it will be extremely difficult to get anyone to believe it especially on your side of the water, but it will certainly make history in the Glennamoy Area. By the way although your Annual Account is made out in draft and is just about to be sent off for binding I anticipate some delay as I find that all such jobs as binding and printing etc seem to take much longer than usual at present, but you will understand that the matter is in hand, and if there is delay that nothing has gone wrong. I failed to get the County Council here to increase their offer of £40 per statute acre for the Housing site at Geashill, and as they said they did not propose to disturb the grazing letting, which expires on the 1st March next, I could not cut any ice on that point". Includes many references to the Tullamore 'affray' or Tullamore Incident, for example, letter to Tim M. Healy, M. P, House of Commons: '...I was immediately concerned with giving the facts in support of the point that the Competent Military Authority - Martial Law and the Defence of the Realm Regulations notwithstanding - noted without lawful authority in taking the prisoners out of Tullamore Gaol, that he has them illegally in his custody, and that the proposed trial by Court Martial will be illegal. ...It is entirely a case for a civil tribunal - for a jury; and on the evidence it is extremely unlikely that a jury anywhere would convict. It had not the most remote connection with the "Rising"; and to drag these men and boys before a Court of Military officers steeped in the atmosphere of the Insurrection and trotted out on the rebel stage a grave injustice - and is putting prisoners in serious danger.'
